Any info on running OSX from SD Card?
I have a Gateway LT2016U through Verizon running XP, which I understand is a kissin' cousin to the Aspire One. I would like to install Snow Leopard retail, which I purchased specifically for this purpose, onto the SD card, and run it from there instead of from my hard drive. I would rather not screw with my XP system and recovery partitions if it can be avoided. Just want to boot and run Snow Leopard from SD.
If Snow Leopard is not doable, than fall back to Leopard 10.5 instead.
I have spent days scouring the Net and have yet to come up with a procedure to do this on SD card. I have a couple Category 4 16GB cards. In fact, most writeups either make a lot of assumptions about the readers technical knowledge and/or require an Intel Mac as part of the procedure. All I have is a G4 Powerbook and the Snow Leopard installer chokes up a hairball about invalid processor.
Can anyone explain to me - or point me to a writeups somewhere - how to accomplish this? I have many years systems analyst experience, and know my way around both platforms - but I'm not a systems admin.
Update - and communications question
I was able to get snow leopard successfully installed onto a Class 6 SDHC card, as well as a 32GB expresscard (via a USB adapter).
Performance is actually pretty good, and improves as you work.
However, wifi and Verizon 3G don't work. I've been able to connect to Web via a USB Wifi dongle, but really need to get the 3G piece working.
Any suggestions, anyone?
