10.2.8 video chat possible?
Hey, don't ban me if this question isn't allowed or something, because I'm also here to read iphone development news, and I am much more knowledgeable in that area.
A relative of mine has OS 10.2.8 on an older computer, the one with the fat round base. She wanted to chat with a webcam with her daughter, who is on a pc.
Apple told her she has to buy a new computer with the webcam built-in. I call bullsh*t on that. The computer is totally fine, and should be able to handle a dinky webcam. I got a logitech webcam, and the macam program. I've gotten the cam to work, but now cannot seem to find any software that is built for 10.2.8 that allows cam chatting. how is this possible? ichat AV (2.1) requires at least 10.3.0 (despite the fact that apple had a beta version that worked for 10.2.8, but disabled it). yahoo, skype, etc only work for newer OS's.
Is there any way around this without having to buy a new computer? i haven't had a mac computer, only the iphone, and this seems like arbitrary holding back of features. Did it really take this long for mac's to start using webcams? I'm pretty sure Windows 95 had them. Again, this is not me trying to diss apple. I'm just shocked that I can't find a slew of programs for chatting with webcam for OS 10.2.8

Why not just update to 10.4? You are describing an old iMac the round base and the swivel head, 10.4 will run just fine on that.
You'd have to purchase 10.4, almost forgot that
while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result))
