i don't know if some of you are lawyers but you can sue apple over creating a legal scam for a filthy cable without specifying innocent users completely about it on their package boxes that they would need to pay 50$ more for this cable, this is a white way of consumer cheating. instead of packing right cable for their product ,it was also bad for them not giving charger ........i hope next apple ipod or iphone you might have to buy its hard drive or flash memory seperately and ........more next versions you might have to buy head phones seperately too...... and later on you may need to assemble whole unit in the year 2020 and each spare would cost you 50$ each . Very good apple i must say!!!
    1 cheap chip locked apple h.d.d =50$
    + 1 cheap chip locked apple headphone set = only 50 $
+ 1 cheap chip locked apple touch screen = only 50$
+ 1 cheap chip locked apple usb cable =50$
+ 1 cheap chip locked apple av cable =50$
+ 1 cheap chip locked cheap apple dock =only 100$
+ 1 cheap cheap chip locked apple ipod motherboard=only 40$
    oh yeah i almost forgot
+1 cheap chip locked apple ipod Battery (whithout which above entries are void) =only 100$

keep buying each 50$ things for next 10 christmass and you would get a very cheap chip locked apple wrist band free of charge (just clips spring charges apply =only 10 $),and if you get deaf by 10th christmas no need to say anymore because at apple we really care for you by paying 50$ salaries to our 15 hour 6day employees.

they need better marketing strategy ,On one hand they are handing free ipods with mac's to students
and on the other they are selling av cable which is supposed to be inside product pack.
poor marketing dirty strategies, wondering who are their marketting managers ,do they even do alot of home work too.
sorry for me being emotional , back to IAP framework work.please post some zoomed images too.

i cant find any methods in the spring board app relating to video out.

i still think IAP is the way to go:

    kIAPVideoTVOut_on

    and

    kIAPVideoTVOutAuthorized

but anyway, we should decide on a framework to work on...

    Some update:

According to the picture above from iPod and iPhone: TV out support page, it should not work, but it does !

But i might be a mistake because you can also read this:

The following docks support TV out when used with an iPod model or iPhone that supports TV out:
    ▪ Apple Universal Dock (requires either the Apple Composite AV Cable or the Apple Component AV Cable - will not work with the iPod AV Cable).
iPod Universal Dock or iPod with color display Dock (iPod photo Dock)
So if you have a iPod Universal Dock, you don't need to buy the new Apple cables.

Another thing i haven't immediately noticed:

The sophisticated iPod module enables manufacturers to embed drivers which dynamically enable users to
control the iPod via the 1-wire protocol - stream audio and control its functions over USB.

USBware's CDC-ACM Class Driver with support for the Prolific chipset supports the 2-wire IAP protocol.
    Seen on this page: http://www.jungo.com/st/embedded_usb_ipod.html

“Numerous third-parties have developed accessories for use with media players. An accessory may be used with the media player as long as a compatible connector or port is utilized. Accessories interact with the media player using an accessory protocol. One example of an accessory protocol is referred to as iPod Accessory Protocol (iAP), which is available from Apple Computer, Inc. of Cupertino, Calif. The accessory protocol includes commands which have been typically been made freely accessible to accessory developers. A problem with the commands being freely accessible is that they can be used by unauthorized or counterfeit accessory devices.
“One solution is to perform authentication operations on an accessory device. Accordingly, the accessory devices would not have any access to the media player until after the authentication process is complete.
“Thus, there is a need for improved techniques to control the nature and extent to which accessory devices can be utilized with other electronic devices.

even if i am ready to pay my place does not have these cables or dock not any where around 250 or i think next place would be 1500 miles near me(SMARTUP APPLE first sow retailers then reap benifits or loose customers!!!), and with the way we are progressing we might be able to hack it in 2 years which means 6thgen will be obsolete by then since terabytes would conquer disks at the rate which computers are progressing, for customers like me its a loose-loose game both sides even if we want to pay or we want to hack since we can pay but no place to offer us the item.Pathetic apple shame on you.i think i would blog this issue soon.

    Hi guys,

tell me please, if the IAP.framework could be patched to always enable tvout, does this mean that everything we see on iPod's / iPhone's screen is also send thru tvout? That would be great. Keep up hacking

No, it will just make the phone act like if the original video cable is always plugged.
