one thing you may want to try is connecting to a Mac.

Just wanna add something you can try and this method for window Vista (64bit) only.
go to "Control Panel>switch to classic view>click on Administrative tools>click on Service>drag the Name bar so you can see the name of each service running in your computer> take a look at "Apple Mobile Device" and "Bonjour Service". If you have the message "usb not recognize and....Malfunction". Right Mouse Click at "Apple Mobile Device" and click "Restart" do the same with "Bonjour Service". . After finish restart computer and try to connect your phone back to computer. Hope this work . Good Luck guyz.

    tried both suggestions...didn't work

This happened after i dropped my phone. So i think is something wrong inside. The phone tends to restart when i power down. Also, I get "this accessory is not made for the iphone" pop up continuously.

The phone takes a charge but doesn't display that its charging.

There has to be a way to restore via ssh. Anybody?

Yeah i've read many posts on it. However no solutions. Let me know if you figure something out.

I am giving it a couple of weeks; if not I'm going to have to sell it for whatever i can get.

I am having the same problem with 1.1.4 (originally 1.1.2). It occurred suddenly, week ago. Tried to restore, but I am unable to go in DFU mode. Charging is working only if I plug it in wall charger and turn it off. Any update (solution) on this issue. I am in Macedonia (unsupported country) and returning to Apple store is impossible. Any solution for restoring or fixing via wifi or ssh?

    Default iPhone not charging

    Same problem with 2.0
Suddenly the iPhone is not charging or syncing.

When the iphone is turned off, the phone recognizes when it is being connected to a dock or powered cable, then it turns on and I get the "Accessory not recognized. Turn on airplane mode?" message. Seems to be that when the handset is off, it is able to be charged.

Once the iphone is turned on, the phone never recognizes neither a dock or cable.
I tried using different docks, cables, computers and OSs. No restore or update possible. The same cables, docks, computers work perfectly with other iPhones.

Any solution yet? Is it a software or hardware problem?
