I only plug my phone into the pc and the dock. I imagine it encountered a short from a thunderstorm a few weeks ago, still doesn't work as far as syncing with the pc. I havent taken it back to the apple store yet because Im afraid since it is still modded they might not honor the warranty. I'll figure something out though. Hopefully lol.

I too have landed with the same problem.

Some one help me! My phone doesn't charge / get recognized by windows either. The cable / adapter is fine as my other iPhone is charging.
    What can be done?
I can't restore since itunes won't recognize that I plugged in the phone.

    ~Thanks!

Any solutions. I've been up all night trying to find something. At this point I am convinced is the logic board. I've tried different computers, different usb cables, dock, no dock, different itunes version, dfu mode. At this point im trying to get it to factory mode to get an exchange at the apple story under my friends ATT account.

I get a message about the accessory is not compatible with the iphone. Phone seems to charge but doesnt display its charging.

Windows says the USB malfunctioned and iTunes doesn't recognize it.

    Please help.

Well, my battery has discharged completely now. Game over for me. Apple doesnt sell iPhones here, so they won't offer any support. I hoping the situation will change when they start selling them officialy in late September.

anyone know if u can restore via ssh without itunes? If i can get it to factory i can always go to apple store and get it exchanged. I have until september on my warranty.

whoelsebutme, try leaving it connected to ur wall adapter. Im having the same exact problem. It takes a charge u just cant see it and it dies quickly. But leave it connected and maybe someone will help us out. Be patient.

Can anyone offer any help? Im pretty sure theres hardware issue involved that is not letting the ipod become recognized.

All i need is to restore without itunes in order to get the warranty validated.

UPDATE: After reading more posts it seems to be an issue with the logic board. I am still checking for alternate restore options.
