Unhappy [Unexpected Event] Yet another Newton's law victim 4

Accidentally dropped my iPhone last night from about 5 feet straight down onto concrete. Basically it landed directly on top and smashed the on-off button flush with the phone. Now the phone continues to be in an on off loop until the battery dies. I tried prying up the button with no success. Not sure what to do from this point.

    So my questions are:
~ Should I try opening the phone up to push that button out?
~ Can I take it to the apple store to either get it fixed or get some type of credit on a new phone?
~ The software is unlocked so if I take it in to the apple store will this create problems for me?

Any advice in this situation would be greatly appreciated. I love this phone so much and need to get it back! The thing that kills me the most is I just bought my wife her own iPhone last week as a gift. It's going to hurt if I end up buying another iPhone. I'm bummed....back to using my crappy Razr until I figure out what to do....
