So I was all set to HW unlock my iPhone. Bought the special tools from iFixit (more on that later), had all the software installed, was ready to go. So yeah, all of these guides showing you how to open the iPhone case make it look MUCH easier than it is. "Press up gently on the metal backing and you'll hear a click." Never heard a click, either with the metal backing, which I never got off, or with the small black panel. After finally getting the black panel off, I set about trying to get the metal panel off, and evidently punctured the battery and the iPhone just started spewing smoke. I left the room because I thought it was going to explode, but it didn't. So that's that. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be...god knows I've blown who knows how many days worth of hours tinkering, etc, over the last few months...maybe it's a good thing.
Back to the iFixit tools--DON'T BUY THEM--they're crap. You're better off just buying a nice sturdy guitar pick.
Anyone think I could sell this thing somewhere for parts?
