Default [Unexpected Event] iPhone vs. Bag of Vomit

here's a first. last night i celebrated a lil too much and ended up throwing up into my bathroom garbage can ...fun! i woke up this morning and i couldn't find my phone.

i looked everywhere and still couldnt find it. i resulted to looking in the trash i took out when i woke up, and surprise, surprise .....i find my iphone submerged in my own puke! ::big sigh::

visually it's fine except for a small ring under the screen ..."water" damage i assume, but surprisingly, the indicator under the headphone jack is still white. i haven't tried to turn it on or anything yet either.

i'm debating to take it into the apple store and let a genius inspect it. will the circle under the screen go away once it dries out completely? how long does it take to dry out? i assume if that circle goes away, and the phone cant turn on, the genius will just look at the headphone jack, see that it's still white, then give me a refurb.

any other suggestions besides pulling the thing apart and cleaning it up real good?

it's originally a 1.1.2 jailbroken and unlocked using it on t-mobile. it was originally activated legally through itunes / at&t, so i don't think that will be a problem when the look up the serial or sim.

so there's your sob story for the day! ::clap, clap::

but suggestions on the damage and apple store would be appreciated!

    Cool

take it apart, not all the way tho( i would say just open the case up so that the air gets the puke smell out and so that fresh air hits the insides) and let it dry for a day or 2, good luck upchuck....

how bout the front though? is that just moisture under the screen that will go away eventually?

i currently have it sitting inside my car out of direct sunlight to help speed up the drying process.

Depends, it could be mositure or it could be something short circuted and maybe burned thru a little because it looks a little like its been in the microwave. At least you have a good yet smelly reason to go 3g

upon further inspection, the paper under the headphone jack is half-n-half.

it's spit down the middle w/ one side being white, and the other side being pink.

is it supposed to be all pink to signify that it has been in contact w/ water?

    **EDIT**

nm, read that its supposed to be half pink if its been in contact w/ liquids

haha, funny but true. though i hate having to go to an antique phone in the time being!

the circle on the front is completely black. different than the rest of the screen. and it has a rainbow effect around the edge of it.

the "moisture" it was submerged in was a mixture of ...rum, tea, 2 pieces of pizza and a brownie if that matters!

dont tear it appart (if you haven't done it yet) cuz if it's your first time it's shure (READ REALLY REALLY SHURE)that you are gona damage the casing so they will know you opened it and they are gonna void your warranty... If it's white/pink I think they will tell you water damage...

try to let it dry and boot it... if it's not working, well you can try to change your battery... afterthat maybee your logic board and after that comm board... Or just go buy another one cuz it's gonna cost you more in part

If your iphone is dead, pm me, I need the screws that are inside...

the moisture under the screen seems to be not going away. i'm pretty sure it's moisture, because when i put pressure on that spot, i can make it move slightly. i'm not 100% sure its moisture though. from the looks of it, what does everyone else think? ...moisture or physical (permanent ) damage?

looks like i'm gonna have to order an iphone opening tool to really dry that part off.

will it hurt it if i try to plug it in to see if it's working or not? or will that just cause damage if it is still wet inside? or is it better off letting it dry, opening it up, and then try to turn it on?

i'm just wondering because my battery was low last night, so the battery just could be dead. i just didnt wanna chance it by plugging it in to see if was screwed up from the "moisture".

at least wait a day or two and let it dry a little if you cant open it and then try and plug it in, also dont try and open it with out the proper tools or it will look tampred with if you scratch the case
