That would be such a hard job!!! Having to solder each one of those wires back onto the iPhone perfectly seems to me at least to be next to impossible. Also, how do we even know that the iPhone will accept 16gb of storage? I doubt it would just accept it and work flawlessly. Also, lets say you were to take the chip out of a touch and then get it soldered perfectly back in your iPhone how would you be able to load the new iPhone firmware on it when it has iTouch firmware on it?

I have to admit I have once seen a 16gb iPhone on eBay, but i doubt it was legit...

I think the first thing you guys need to do is take a picture of the boards of a 8GB iPhone and a 8GB iTouch and a 16GB iTouch and compare the number of pins on the samsung flash memory chip.

If they match, then it could work. If they don't, then you're in for far more than just swapping chips with a soldering rework station.

    Question

I don't know if this apply to Iphone hardware. But I build/fixed computer, and you can't installled a 4g memory into a 2g max motherboard. To me this principal is the same for Iphone, since Iphone is kind of a mini computer. Unless you can confirm the motherboard part number on a 16g Itouch is the as the 8g Iphone, but then you have to take into consideration of other chipset install in the mother board.
