anybody know the location of general.plist and touch.plist in firmware 2.1??
I am using iBricks and it has helped me before I upgraded. Now the Applications/preferences.app is not available. The application folder is not accessible?
Have these files been moved someplace else?

(take out the "." in the link in "rapid")

heres the link to download it if you have a upper dead strip:
    pidshare.com

1.0.2 firmware General.plist for low dead strip:

    pidshare.com

1.1.1 firmware General.plist for low dead strip:

    pidshare.com

You will need to overwrite your general.plist located in Applications/preferences.app and then you will be all set.

if you have any problems let me know, I set my sensitivity at 5.5 instead of 7, because if you set it too high some of ur buttons will not work properly, so try to find a medium of somewhere in between where both all ur bottons work that are in the dead strip along with all the ones that were working ok before. When i changed my sensitivity to 7, i found myself with my visual voicemail buttons not working, so try anywhere between 4.5 - 6.

    cheers-

YOST!!! This allowed me to get to the 'Touch' menu but the sensitivity slider is in the dead zone!! How can I edit the 'Touch' menu itself to switch the slider with the test area? I've used this fix before for my ipod touch and it worked great with a lower dead strip but mine isn't high nor low, its upper middle right where the damn slider is!!! Any help whatsoever would be appreciated ... I PM'd you just in case you miss the bump!

Default Lower strip not working in key pad but working otherwise

My problem is strange. Touchscreen is working alright except when I use keypad for SMS, entering password for wifi, email, webaddress in safari. The lower strip having three functions : when I press .?123, The Up arrow sign gets pressed. When I press space bar, depending on which side I press, the keys just above the space bar I.e. x, c, v, b, n gets pressed. Thus it is still sensitive but last row pressed second last row. On springboard, for calculator, for phone i.e. favorites, recents, contacts, keypad etc. it works all right.

I was using unlocked 1.1.4, thought it could be software problem so upgraded to 2.2.1 and then jailbroken with quickpwn but the problem persists.

Pl advise what is the solution. If I want to change sensitivity, can I get file for loading touchscreen for firmware 2.2.1 to increase senstivity.

Default Dead strip solution for 2.2.1

I found a post on other site and used it successfully : I replaced the general.plist file through win SCP

THIS IS THE WAY TO GO

    I had first gen Iphone
This for now was for me the easiest method.

Get the General.plist file from here.

    http://members.netmadeira.com/dstf/General.plist.zip

    Easy instructions:
    - Update your firmware to 2.2.1
    - Use QuickPwn to unlock, jailbreak (here is a youtube video on how to … YouTube - How To Jailbreak NEW 2.2.1 Firmware For iPhone,iPhone 3G & iPod Touch 1st Gen everything you need is in that youtube video including the links to where to download everything, if you dont have the first gen iphone, I would recommend you find your iphone model and firmware 2.2.1 on yourtube, there is bound to be someone going step by step on how to jailbreak and provide links.)

(this is a little extra if you can’t unlock… Skip the next three steps if you can unlock just fine)
~ Run Cydia, browse to find Open SSH
    ~ install OpenSSH
~ Disable the autolock feature from iPhone

    - Download iPhone Tunnel Suite 2.7 or win scp
    - Connect your phone the windows desktop.
    - “alpine” is password to login to iphone from desktop
    - Browse to the path “/Applications/Preferences.app/”
    - Find & Make a copy of the General.plst, just in case…
    - Drag & Drop the download General.plist (from the zip) to that folder, replacing the one that’s there.
    - Reboot iPhone and then on Settings>General you will see a new item - Touch
    - Decrease the value to 0 (most sensitive)
    - Enjoy your screen again

fyi don’t increase the value … you will want to punch yourself if you do and it will make it VERY hard to press buttons.

Default Can vertical flip be done?

I recently came down with the same problem (the area from the dock down no longer responds.) I can just barely slide to unlock. I have tried setting the touch sensitivity to 0, but this just barely helped. I was able to open docked apps (I couldn't before), but still no luck on the bottom buttons or keyboard (rendering my phone somewhat useless.) Additionally, this mod doesn't appear to help at all anymore (I've restored/updated since the first time.) So...

Are there any other fixes for this problem? I don't want to risk replacing the screen (or sinking the $130-ish dollars for a screen and digitizer.) Flipping the screen vertically wouldn't fix my phone, but it would restore a good amount of usability as I need the bottom much more. Is this possible? Are there any other fixes? ...It is possible that I didn't use the sensitivity tweak correctly. I tried adjusting it to about 8 evenly spaced settings, all the way from 0 to 16. Setting it to zero should fix it, right?
