Okay - I just did a restore and installed 1.13. Then used ZiPhone to activate and unlock. That went smoothly but still I cannot get past the "slide to unlock" screen.

Is there anything else I can do??

Now onto my next problem. I live in canada and bought the phone in the US. My sister is coming into town next week and I want her to take the phone back with her to her local apple store in chicago to have them look at it and HOPEFULLY REPLACE IT. What do I have to do to the phone to put it back into a state that the apple folks cannot see I've hacked it?? Will a simple restore back to 1.13 do the trick?? Should I give her the phone with the sim card that came with the phone or just no sim card??

Any suggestions would be helpful. Man this is frustrating.

Can this post be put back into the general section as it's less related to the touchscreen issue and more about putting it back to it's original state.

    thanks

    I also had this problem!
I fix this by replacing the lcd+digitizer with a new one.
    Good luck!

    Same here,

I have fix 2 iphones with the same behavior by changing the screen.

The first time I thought it may be just a bad connection, I tried everything without luck, so I went for the screen.

It's not a really easy job, buy it can be done, I recommend you to check the videos at:

    Screen replacement video

    good luck

    I forgot,,,,,

if you have warranty, I will advice you to use it, changing the display should be your last resort.

You may as well sell it on ebay, I have seen phones with the same problem go around 250 dlls...

Just to update you guys - my sister brought the phone into her local apple store in chicago. Remember I live in toronto and have hacked the hell out of this phone. Basically before I gave it to her I did a restore back to 1.13. She took the phone in without the sim card - they had a look over it and replaced it on the spot with a new one. She tried to get them to replace the 8gig I had (which I paid $599 for) with a 16gig model - but they wouldn't bite.

Either way I'm very happy. If anyone else has this problem you should try and restore and return to apple.

    good for you []
if you had IPSF unlocked, then your seczone will still be patched after restore to 1.1.3. you are lucky that apple replaced it..
My first iPhone also had a deadstrip 1cm from bottom of screen, tried everything i could like editting touch settings, getting the slider in there to accept negative values...but nothing worked and atlast replaced the screen myself from a non-booting iPhone.
iPhone 4 (ios 4.1, simfree, jailbroken)
