Guys, I've got the same problem. Speaker sound absolutely crap, here is an example http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=-qyBRgK8Yrc

Probably the only thing to solve this problem is bring it back where you bought it from. I bought it in the USA and unfortunately I live in Holland where the iphone is not available yet. So now i'm stuck with a rather expansive phone that I can hardly hear ringing.

Looks like I have to buy another phone.

Did you guys tried a reboot?

I'm having the same issue from time to time but rebooting takes care of it.

If rebooting means: press home and on/off button for about 10secs till apple logo appears and iphone restarts then 'YES'.

If rebooting is different than above, please clarify

I reboot by power-cycling and that fixes the problem in my case. As in power off->power on.

On a side note, I believe this is an actual bug on apple's part, it usually comes up after playing video on youtube.

Restarting, rebooting doesn't help at all.
Some people say that it's just the crap quality of the speaker but this is not true. The sound has been great before although it was never loud. After playing some music the speaker suddenly sounded absolutely crap loads of distortion, even on low volume. I can not say any different that the speaker is blown!

If I lived in the USA I would go to an Apple store immidiately and let them sort this out. This MUST be covered under the 1 year's Apple guarrantee. Oh and for those who say the speaker is not made for playing music; I've never read this in the userguide, manual or where ever, not even a warning. And how are you supposed to watch youtube video's? Always with headphones ?!

Unfortunately I live in Holland where the iphone is not available yet (bought it in USA). So I'm pretty stuck to this forum and hope you guys come with any solutions
    Please let me/us know!

assuming that the speaker is damaged, which is possible, because i did play around with opening and closing the phones casing, where can i order a replacement speaker, and how do i go about changing it?

    thanks

    To Shawnie53:
Just google on 'iphone parts or repair' and you will find.
I found a few but quite expansive in Europe.
