Sleep button destroyed!, need help coming up with a solution : (
So I dropped my 1st gen t-mobile iphone on the concrete today and smashed the sleep button down so that its flush with the aluminum casing and wont come out.
The obvious consequences of this are that my phone works fine but i can not sleep the screen..which is kind of a big deal with an iphone.
I have a few ideas for how to handle this but i wanted to get some input here.
first off I'm looking for an app to replace the functionality of the sleep button . Does anyone know of one? If i can't find one I will probably try and make one.
2nd should I try and like carve or bend into the casing to get a grip with a knife and possibly pop the button out? I have made a few reasonable attempts at prying and its not coming up. the casing just outside the button is a little dented so that could be keeping it from popping up as, or it could just be the spring.
also i have no idea if i will be able to turn my phone back on if it goes off...and i'm not about to test it.
Any advice would be amazingly appreciated, thanks!!!!
probably your best option is in this order
a) find an app that can do this
b) open the iphone and there are 2 screws holding the sleep button. remove them, and with a screwdriver rebend the casing (taking appart an iphone is a hard task, and you might damage your case more if you don't know what you are doing)
c) replace audio mod/casing (probably ebay would be your best choice)
bring it to a phone repair shop you TRUST(!), or bring it to apple store to get it fixed... only if you cant/dont want to do it yourself
