Default [Sensor] between IR and Screen?

Theres this horizontal depressed slit (black) that sits equidistant from the top of the screen and the top edge of the iPhone. It looks as though its a microphone, but the microphone is the bottom right, correct? What is it? The proximity sensor (really hard to see) is above it.
I'm asking cause the slit was drenched in water when I was applying a screen protector.

    Thanks!

Just make an emergency call to your home phone and see if it works. If you have no service, it should at least make three soft beeps through the earpiece to let you know there's no service.

Emergency call doesn't dial 911, it just lets you dial a phone number in case of an emergency.
