Replaced Screen but Mic not working
Hi,
So i had cracked the screen on my iPhone 3G and I went ahead and replaced it as per the directions I found on pdaparts.com. Well the screen works perfectly now. However, the microphone doesn't. It worked well before I opened it up so I'm assuming I did something wrong. Which of the cables might I have connected incorrectly for the mic to go bust. AFAIK, the mic resides in the lower part of the phone and I didn't really mess with that part.
It doesn't work while making calls in the normal or spreaker mode (earphone's mic still works like a charm). Also apps like Shazaam don't work since they cannot record anything.
If someone could kindly please help me out since I basically have people call and then cuss me out since I don't seem to reply.
Thanks again.
Cheers

To add to my problems, since the last time i opened the phone I cannot hear anything if the phone is held up to my ear i.e. the speaker phone thingy in the top of the phone does not work. However, if I put it on speaker phone or if I connect my hands free, I can hear everything. The original problem of no one being able to hear me still exists though.
Thanks

Hi,
It seems you need to review the connector #5, the one for the housing circuitry (on/off, audio plug, silence and volumen control)
Hope it helps,

There's no reason connector 5 should have been touched for a screen replacement. It is for the switches as well as the audio jack.
Connector 4 should be checked if you are having speaker or microphone problems.
Connector 3 should be checked if you are having problems with the phone's earphone.

if you were using heat to dissemble digitizer and LCD, it can happen that connector gets broken
no way to fix it, just replacement of whole part...
