Replaced battery, now not charging
Hello,
I've had a heck of a time with this.
Quick History: I bought a battery to replace my iPhone 3G's original. It came with a ribbon cable, but not the black spring connector that's on the end of ribbon cable of the original. I tried to get this battery to work, but couldn't figure out how it connected without this black 4-pin connector. I tried to take the connector off the original battery, but only managed to destroy it. Eventually I tried to solder something on to it, which worked well enough to get the iPhone up and running. The only problem was that it the battery wouldn't charge. The phone booted up and worked fine, it just wouldn't charge.
So I gave up on this battery and bought one that looks just like the original (which I would have done in the first place but I didn't know there was a difference). Everything is back in, but the new battery won't charge either. I actaully bought two new batteries, but both have the same problem. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? The phone works fine, it just won't charge the battery.
Thanks,
TJ

Did you get anywhere with this ?
I'm in the same position.
Brand new battery, won't charge. Phone works fine if I attach an external battery pack or USB lead, but even though the phone shows as charging, the battery never gets any more full.
