Default Repair Needed iPhone cannot make or receive calls, battery drain, cant switch it on

I placed my iPhone on an FM transmitter in the car 3 days ago. The phone's screen immediately started to flash different colors, everything jumping across like crazy. I unplugged it and after pressing every combination of buttons the phone gave me a really distorted picture and alot of fuzz. I managed to turn off the phone and get it back on but then got the message "Repair Needed iPhone cannot make or receive calls." Once I got home I plugged the phone with the USB cable into my computer. Charging for several hours I only find that it didn't gain any charge level but got really hot same time. Also the phone would keep rebooting as it was plugged in.

Now three days have passed and the iPhone lost all its battery power and does not charge at all anymore if plugged with the USB cable to my computer. Also I cannot switch it on anymore.

Does anybody have had the same problem? How did you solve it? Do I have to change the battery?

A little bit about the "history" of the phone. I have an unlocked 1.0.2 iPhone that I used one of the very 1st software hacks to unlock... it was before anySIM came out... I had to manually do it using a lot of commands (PACAY, iBrickr, Easy iUnlocker, unlock-fast.pxl etc) ... it's been a while ago. In May last year the installer app broke and it always ends up wih an error message (in /var/logs/CrashReporter/). At the end I set up as a "new phone" with this method:

    • using the old installer (believe, it was 3.0) installed "the virginizor" from the "i.unlock.no" source

    • restored via iTunes to 1.1.4 immediately.

    • downloaded iDemocracy 3 from drakenza.com

    • selected only jailbreak and activate. no unlock yet.

    • when it was done, opened up installer and installed BSD subsystem and Bootneuter.

    • in bootneuter, left the bootloader to "3.9", put neuter to on, left fakeblank off and put unlock on.

    • pressed flash in the top right.

And there we are *smile*, it worked perfectly since 3 days ago. Only one thing, don't know if this was an early sign for my problem, one or two months ago, the wifi started to become a little unstable (lost pings or very long ping time).

Unfortunately, the fm transmitter fried the power management chip on your comm board. This is a common problem with 2G iPhones. You will have to get your comm board replaced, and possibly the logic board as well. It is definately a hardware problem that can not be fife with software. If you have warranty, Apple will replace your phone no questions asked if you tell them how your phone died.

    1) how could i check if the logic board is damaged as well?

    2) would this be a "dirty fix" for the comm board?

    3) which comm board do i need? one like this?

no warranty. too long ago that i have bought it, not living in the US and hacked ...

    1) The easiest way to see if your logic board is still good is to attach it to a good comm board.
    2) If you have expert soldering skills and a fine tip soldering iron or reflow station, try this:

I've revived a number of comm boards this way.
    3) That is the correct part. However, it is a better idea to buy a broken screen 2G iPhone to salvage the comm board/motherboard. I see them regularly on eBay for ~$100-$150 and you end up with a good comm board, and logic board.
