    Default [Problem] PC won't recognize iPhone

    Hi all,

    I received an iPhone yesterday, the firmware is 1.1.3. My PC wouldn't recognize it, so I tried a Mac, which didn't recognize too. Then I simply entered recovery mode, and for my surprise, my PC still didn't recognize it. So I thought, it is a hardware problem, but when the phone was in normal mode, it would charge, so how is it possible to be a hardware problem? I tried DFU mode (Home button + top for 10 sec.), it apparently worked, screen was all black, PC wouldn't recognize, I then disconnected the phone and it booted in recovery mode, very weird.

    I don't know what to do, can anyone help me?

    Thanks in advance,
    Rafael

    I'm not sure about the Mac. On the PC, however, go to Control Panel, the Administrative Tools, the Services. In the Services app, there should be a service called Apple Mobile Device Service. Stop the service by clicking on the word "Stop" in Stop the Service. Then start it again by clicking on start. See here for a visual explanation: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567 . I hope that it helps.

    Hi, thanks for the quick reply, but that didn't work. I am sure the problem is with the iPhone, because my PC recognizes my other iPhone without any problem.

    @element,
    Uninstall itunes and put in the latest.
    Try different usb port, or different cable. iTunes has to recognize/detect the phone when you plug in phone in order for you to proceed.

    Hi, I have already uninstalled iTunes and Apple mobile device, then reinstalled it. It did not work. My charger uses firewire, so I'm guessing there's something wrong with the USB interface, I'll try to connect the iPhone to the PC using firewire. Thanks for the reply, though...

    Don't want to sound pessimistic but i have read so many people having fried USB after they have used Firewire charger or 3rd Party iPod Accessories charging on both USB and FireWire.

    Does it charges when you plug it on its original USB power Adapter ?

    Hi XianLi, I am not sure what caused the problem on this iPhone, a friend of mine bought it from a guy with this problem.
    No, it does not charge via USB, just via FW. I dont know if its a hardware or software problem, but since I am not able to restore, I dont think I'll never find out...

    If you have any idea, please let me know...

    Okay, this sounds bad, I have one with same problem. First time I've seen it.
    I tried many steps, and different machines. Nothing worked. So if anyone has any clue what might have happened, please advise.

    Thx in advance.
