My 2G iphone (1.1.4 firmware) last night developed a problem with the keyboard for SMS, email, google etc. basically, the very bottom portion of the screen, where space bar, return and number characters are, stopped recognising my presses on the screen. when i pressed space it would just insert the nearest letter located on the keyboard, so usually B, C, V or N. I have discovered this morning that it wont recognise my presses on the ipod volume settings either and i have had to use the buttons on the side.

i have restored to 1.1.4 firmware via Itunes and the problem still persists. does anyone have any advice on how to get it working??

sounds like the digitizer has a dead strip at the bottom. Only way to fix it is to replace the screen...
