[Problem] iPhone touchscreen doesn't work
Hi there,
I have a 2g iphone which has been unlocked. Yesterday the bottom half of the touch screen stopped working. On the keypad I could press numbers 1 2 3 but couldn't press anything below that, which means i cannot even slide to unlock the phone. I tried to restore the phone to apple 2.2.1 to make sure it wasn't a software problem, so now even though my phone is locked i cannot slide for emergency which means the problem is somewhere else...
does anyone have any ideas as to how I can solve this problem?? Also my warranty is over (it finished about 2 months ago) and I bought the phone in America but live in England!
Thanks so so much guys! I'd really appreciate your help

unresponsive bottom half of screen
I dropped my phone and the bottom half of the screen (the most useful part) stopped working. I took it apart and discovered that one of the ribbons connecting the touch screen to the digitizer was broken. I ended up ordering a replacement touch screen / digitizer and recovered the phone. (The part cost me about $120 US.) Replacing it isn't that hard, but you have to be gentle and patient. There are videos that walk through the disassemble process. I'd recommend watching a few first. I also would get the tools suggested -- I did it with tools I had and ended up bending the aluminum case a bit.
