Sounds like a faulty comm board to me. You can try charging it with an old iPod firewire charger to see if it will get past the apple. This will not fix your problem, it will only further confirm that your comm board is toast.
Whenever I've seen the problem you've described, it was always the comm board that was the problem.

I dont think the commboard is toast as the battery life of the phone had already degraded alot.

And when I had opened the iphone for replacing the wire the battery had became very hot so I think the battery has gone kaput if its comm board then I will have to say good bye to my phone as I ccannot purchase another comm board.

read up posts by user Fransis.
There are two power management chips one on the coms board and one on the logic board.

So you cant say for sure which one it is.
Ive had similar problems as some guys here have posted. And my solution has been to leave it hooked up to the wall charger even after 5 hours it shows under 5%. I then do a hard reset and it comes up as fully charged.

If your using a non apple charger or sound dock of any kind it seems these are frying the IC on the logic board.
