[Sound] Voice echo
Hi,
I'm having some trouble with my iPhone.
When I make a call, I perfectly hear the person on the other side of the line.
But the other person hears his own voice with echo.
I thought that the problem was on the line but today I installed my simcard in other phone and there is no echo. What could it be?
Anybody having this problem?
I unlocked the iphone my self with the old geohots method.
Thank you

could simply be becuase you have loud volume on your phone and his voice comes out of the speaker and resonate into the mic again?
Try turning volume down.
Does it happen if you use headset?

like mentioned above it IS 100% tht the volume is too loud. iv found this occasionally when iv switched back and forth from speaker and headset and endup with the volume too high. there is NOTHING wrong with your phone this happens on all cell phones due to the fact that the speaker and mic are both on during normal calls. in speaker phone mode the mic is off when you dont talk to avoid this.
again just turn down the volume :)

I recently upgraded to 1.1.1 and then to 1.1.2.....and the echo seems to have gotten worse....to the point of getting really really annoying....
Anyone figured out a fix for this??

mayb u should try FW1.0.2
or return it to apple???

Ever heard of sound feedback? I'm positive that your speaker sound is being captured by the microphone.

I only have this problem when i use the speaker mode. i guess like what the rest have posted, its really the mic receiving feedback from the speaker..
hey, they are positioned just beside each other.. one good way to test if its a faulty phone is to use the earphones and talk or a bt headset. if you still hear echo, then congrats, ur phone is faulty, if not, then.. reduce the volume!

I know it's the feedback which the mic is capturing and causing the echo...but this is happening in the normal "Phone" mode as well....not speakerphone. And this really shouldn't be happening, since the earpiece and the mic are quite far away from each other.
Talking thru the handsfree and BT handset causes no echo...
Turning down the volume helps, but I have to turn it down to almost 25% of the max for there to be almost no echo. And it's a real pain if you're in a noisy place (like walking down the street or in a coffee shop)....
Is there some hardware expert here who's opened up the phone? Do the earpiece and mic wires cross each other, or are they located close to each other, which might be causing this echo...
Worst part is...I called my iphone from a landline, and at the max iphone earpiece volume, the feedback is stronger than the original signal! I get back my voice louder than I speak...it's getting amplified and coming back to me....trust me...it's really annoying.....

I hv the same problem. My iphone is OTB 1.1.2 and using with turboSIM
I heard from the other side perfectly, better quality than my old Samsung cell phone, when I expect the other side enjoy the same quality as me, I'm wrong.
My girl friend keep on complaining that it's so noisy @my side.
I already reduce the volume but no luck.
Will it be the 1.1.2 problem?
any patch for reducing the mic sensitivity? many thanks~
