A new way to brick an iphone :D
Hi everyone! This is my first post here, so please forgive me for any mistakes.
I recently got an iphone 2g with a broken lcd(half of it was black). At that point, phone was operating normally, half the screen was operating, touch was operating too and could connect to the network. I never tried to connect it to itunes though! So, I decided to offer my small knowledge of electronics to the owner, and ordered a new lcd screen from ebay and replaced the broken one. So, after putting the phone pieces back together, I tried to turn it on. Battery was off, so I plugged it to an ac adapter. After 5-10 minutes of charging, the phone turned on and stuck to the "connect to itunes" screen(and stopped charging too). So, I tried to connect it. But, itunes wouldn't recognize it, when connected to a macbook (with itunes 184.108.40.206),
a Acer Aspire 1694WLMi (with itunes 220.127.116.11)
and my desktop computer, where i installed itunes 7.7.
I tried to put the phone in DFU mode, following several different procedures. All of them result in a black screen and an iphone which can't boot using the power/sleep button. I think that should be correct, but itunes still won't recognize it. So, I'm stuck in this situation and looking for suggestions, if anyone can.
Thank you all in advance!
PS: Forgot to mention that I have NO idea which firmware was running before the surgery! And that I have no other experience with iphones/ipods, so I'm really sorry if my description is not clear... Oh, one more thing: the device was used with a TurboSIM, which I found inside the sim tray.
