iPhone 2g issues?

Original iPhone, 8g, 3.1.2

Two issues:

1- when I unlock the phone via swipe about 80% of the time I get a message that says that this accessory is not made for iPhone that I have to dismiss. Nothing is plugged into the dock connector


2- the speaker does not work for playing music, the noise when I u block and for text message notification but works for when the phone is ringing


Everything else on the phone is fine, it syncs with my Mac, charges, audio plays in the headphone jack.


Ideas?

When I unplug the phone from the dock, the speaker works until the phone tells me that this accessory is not compatible with iPhone and then turns off

This leads me to believe that the software is turning off the speaker when. It gets that error. If I have a dock connector issue, perhaps I can disable that error and prevent the speaker from going off?
