That's an awesome idea... it depends on how much of the detector is done in software vs hardware, and probably isn't too powerful anyway, but it would be wonderful to have in a pinch.

You need to own a compatible PocketPC and buy the software + dongle solution from Griffin (TotalRemote), but it is not sold anymore.
Maybe I misinterrpreted his post but I read his suggestion as a simple bluetooth to ir gateway. There are some very cheap and simple bluetooth solutions available these days.
Some very close to Apple's choice...CSR BlueCore4-Ext. The Dev board is not too bad ($100 USD) and just the chip is ~$5 USD.
Perhaps for Phase II? :)
