Hi,
just realized that the matt-finished bluish lens coating got scratched away partially on my iPhone :(
Anyone similar experience? Is there a chance of getting a replacement part for this except ordering a complete back cover (if available)?

cnn.cn is where you can look for parts. I don't see just the lens anywhere but getting the back may be best.
How about asking Apple, if it is off it could be a defect.
Are you sure its scratched off and not just requiring a cleaning. Anti-glare coating looks funny when smudged.
Does it effect your pictures?

Yes - I'm absolutely sure. It's definitely scratched off. I'm using a microfibre cloth for cleaning the display and the chrome parts of the iPhone. And yes: it's a very bad photo. I'll try to take a better one and post it here ...Quote:

I'm using a soft case from my Sony Ericsson P800 and probably the material on the inside is too rough and moving the iPhone around in my trouser pockets using this bag seems having scratched it off :(Quote:

I just want to leave a quick note here that:
1) the lens on the iPhone is, indeed, plastic, not glass. I know this for a fact. I used acetone to remove the coating and it ate into the lens. It’s plastic. Definitely.
2) I found one source for a new lens (after a lot of searching and email):

It just arrived today and it’s an exact replacement (minus the decorate silver bezel, which you have to grab from the old lens).
Just thought I’d post something to try to help out.
could you post some details about how you swap out the lens.
I have some old camera UV filter and clear lens I can have ground down to the right size for free.
Just the headache of swapping it out or in
