I have a 2g Iphone and it doesn't ring when people call. Alarms work. music plays everything works well. YEs i have made sure it's not on mute or silent. I made sure the volume is turned up. Any one has similar problem please let me know what else i can check i have a feeling it's an hardware issue but i didn't really wanna go ripping apart the thing unless i have reason too. It has the latest OS on it.
Do you have any aftermarket ringtones enabled on the device? I've found that if I add a ringtone, set contacts up that use it, then change that ringtone's name or anything about it, or even re-sync the ringtone to the machine, until I open the ringtone setting page in Settings.app, all rings using custom tones will be silent.
I'd be surprised if you hadn't done that by now in your troubleshooting, but if you haven't, it's worth a shot.
I have noticed that long custom SMS ringtones do not play at all -- and the maximum length is shorter on 3.x than 2.x FW. No idea if ringtones are effected this way --- but if you've into modding your device :D:confused::D
