LCD Transplant - Earpiece only works with headphones
1 - Had fully operational iPhone 2G but the earpiece did not work.
2 - Had fully functional iPhone 2G (everything but the motherboard and battery).
I transplanted #1's motherboard and battery to #2's shell. Everything works fine, however by default the phone now thinks it is ALWAYS in earbud mode and does not produce any sound out of the earpiece.
When I plug in earbuds, the phone thinks is in non-earbud mode and the earpiece works fine but no audio goes through the earbuds.
Whether earbuds are plugged in or not, the hands-free speaker works fine.
I've tried pulling out the mobo and re-seating it; all connections appear to connect just fine. I've tried to plug in and remove the earbuds several times to "unconfuse"the iphone per several other threads recommendations.
I haven't found anyone with this same problem....soo....
Any ideas what might be wrong?
Can I actually do what I did, or do I have to swap ONLY the LCD screen, rather than replacing only the mobo and battery?
Is phone 1 an 8gb and phone 2 a 16gb? 4/8gb phones have different earphone jacks than 16gb phones. You will need to pair 8gb earphone jack with 8gb mobo and 16gb jack with 16gb mobo. There is a mod you can do to get a 8gb jack to work properly with 16gb phone and vice versa.
