Hello,

I purchased an iPhone online a few weeks ago and the phone started behaving strangely only 1 week after starting to use it. It has not been dropped or abused. What happens is that suddenly the iPhone appears to be off. Holding the two buttons will not reset it, and the phone is not detected when I plug it.

The first time it happened I left the phone on the charger for 5 hours and it suddenly came back to life. The same thing happened a few days later, but this time it took nearly 12 hours. I decided to upgrade to 1.1.2 in case this would be some kind of software issue (which I doubt), and the same thing happened once again. Its as if the battery was disconnected. However I can see that's not the case since it restarted after 5-6 days in this state and I see that the battery was drained.

Now the iPhone has been sitting in its box for a few days, waiting to be sent back to Apple. I'm in Canada, and getting the phone to Apple is very problematic. I fear that Apple will deny warranty coverage since it was unlocked *or* that they will replace it with a newer phone that cannot be unlocked yet.

Has anyone seen such a problem? Should I restore the firmware before sending it to Apple, or will they be able to detect it anyway?

Thank you.
