    Default iPhone - touch upgrade

Looking at how similar the iPod touch is to our iPhone, I was wondering if it wasn't possible to snatch the iPod touch's 16gigs and slam them inside the iPhone.
Since we can reflash it to whatever and the same flash applies to the 4gig/8gig, theoretically you would then end up with a 16gig iPhone.

I'm sure I'm missing something.. but then again maybe not?

I remember that some time ago, somebody actually sold a 16gb iPhone on ebay.

I was wondering the same. To upgrade an Ipod is not too hard. What part of the software des the Iphone has on the Hardware side and what on the Harddrive? The other questions are the dimensions and power consumtion of the drives. Does somebody have more detailed information about the drives. I realy would like to pimp up my 4GB Iphone.

OK found answer. No harddrive. The logic board must be replaced.

but isn't the logiv board what drives the ipod touch? So I should be able to swap logic boards around if they are similar.

if you were to buy a 4gb and then just buy the 8gb logic board, I'm pretty sure you can just pop the iPhone open and replace.

I really doubt Apple went through the hassle of creating a brand new logic board just for the iPod touch, when the iPhone one was already there and ready to rock.

the touch is just missing the modem/bluetooth chips and well the speakerphone/volume buttons.

I would love to see an open comparison between the iPhone and the iPod Touch internals
