iPhone shuts down at activation screen
Hi all,
I recently got a water-damaged iPhone from a colleague of mine. After cleaning all of the water and oxidation out with alcohol, the unit seemed to be working fine (except for a dead battery). I decided it would be a good idea to replace the battery and restore the phone to factory settings, but somehow restoring it screwed the phone up, and now it just shuts down every time it hits the 'activation screen'.
I've uploaded a video to youtube for your viewing pleasure: (you can still see some of the damage the water did to the screen)
click!
I have a feeling that somehow the phone thinks it's battery is dead empty, while in reality the battery is close to 100% (4v or so). I've already tried to bypass the power protection (battery + terminal to the little capacitor), but this didn't really help.
I also tried to connect other(charged, non-iphone) LiPo batteries, but got the same results.
All suggestions are welcome!

what happens when u connect ur phone to usb and go to the activation screen?? does it still turn off???

When hooked up to the usb cable, it just restarts after shutdown, and begins the same cycle all over again.

is it a 1stgen iphone??? if it is try unlocking it so you skip the activation screen haha maybe it'll work

have you tried to restore it again?

Yes, I have tried restoring it; it doesn't make any difference. The phone still crashes in the same way. Any other suggestions? Are the any hardware problems that can cause this?

or maybe it has another component damaged due to the water and when its writing the activated state to whatever the place it is inside the phone's logic it shutdowns.... it could be a short circuit or something.

I'd try it with a comm board that is known to be working (if you have access to one). That way you will know for sure if it's the comm board or logic board that's bad. 2G parts can be has for pretty cheap these days. PM me if you need parts. I may have some kicking around I can give u a deal on.
