    Hi,

There's no water indicator "under" the dock connector.

In 1st Gen. iphone there's one at the end of the hole of the audio plug and another inside the phone over the commboard cover.
In 3G iphone there's one at the end of the hole of the audio plug and another two inside the phone over the covers of the logic board

No, if you look underneath the dock connectore on the iPhone 3G there is one there.. mine has gone pink so I want access to it. Looking at disassembly videos it looks like there is no easy access inside the dock connection module.

    Default Exact same Problem

I have the exact same question... I purchased some indicator strips on ebay and i am planning on replacing the tripped sensor on the bottom. Have you found an easy way to do this? I figure taking it a part is the best way but i know that voids the warranty. Is there any way the geniuses at the apple store will know it has been opened though?

Well, getting to the water indicator is a pain. You need to remove the display, then remove the logic board, then take the speaker/mic/dock connector assembly out. The thing is, to get the logic board out, you have to break the "do not remove" sticker. This is the sticker that shows that the phone has been tampered with. I have not heard of Apple Geniuses taking the display off to check the sticker, but they will definately know when the phone gets to a service technician.
FYI, I've replaced several dock connectors, and none of the replacement dock connectors I've ordered came with a water indicator.
