Default iPhone 3GS- Won't charge or turn on

I've fixed iphones before, and they've all been easy fixes with good results, but this one has me flabbergasted

Its a 3GS and it refuses to turn on or charge. It had a busted lcd which I replaced, respectively. I also replaced the dock connector and I have had zero success. The battery indicator that tells you that the battery needs to be charged doesn't even show up when the power button is pressed. I've tried connecting it to both the computer and a wall outlet for a few hours each, still nothing. I've tried many hard resets...... nothing. I've taken the logic board out and examined it closely by removing the EMI shields. From what I can tell, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it; no water damage, no physical damage. I have no idea where to go next. Ideally, I would like to fix it myself instead of replacing it, and taking it to apple is out of the question (got it off of eBay).

Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with this thing or have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Use a multimeter to trace voltage in from the dock connector to the charging circuit, to the battery. If you're getting power all the way there, then it's likely either a popped cold solder joint on one of the battery terminals, or a failing battery. Follow the voltage to see if it's leaving the battery and getting back to the mainboard. At that point you won't be able to trace the voltage much further as the amount of components makes it difficult, but if you can follow the power in from the wall to the dock, from the dock to the charging circuit, then from the charging circuit to the battery, you can definitely cut a few things out of the way as potentials for causing the problem.

Is this an OEM battery? Or an off-brand replacement?
