[iPhone 3GS] White screen after LCD replacement
Hi all,
I have an iPhone 3GS that fell into water, when it turns on, the screen is white. I tried to 'slide to unlock' and heard the unlock sound, so I knew the digitizer was working. Using VNC I entered the phone and started testing it, I made a phone call, played some music, even took a photo, so I knew everything was working, except the LCD screen.
Bought another LCD screen from iFixIt, replaced today, and then I turn it on I get the same white screen. What could be wrong here? The LCD shows a white screen, so it is been powered.
I am hoping someone can give me a tip here, the next step is to open my own 3GS and test the LCD on my phone, but I really don't want to mess my own phone doing this.
Thanks for your attention,
Rafael

Sometimes a Hard reset will help. Hold Home and Power button until your phone restarts.
I dontīt know if this will work in your case because this phone was water damaged

It doesn't work, it is a hardware problem for sure, something else other than the LCD was damaged.
Thanks for replying,

element, did you get the solution
Hi,
I got water damage on my iphone LCD and it was white screen with gray lines on it. I confirmed everything else was working fine so I ordered new LCD from zeetron and replaced it. Now I got this white screen without any lines and everything else still works. itunes does not recognize the phone so I am not sure what else could I do.
Please let me know if there is a solution...

White screen.... open it up again and look at the lcd connector on the board, see if any prongs are out of line, any signs of corrosion(green stuff) and look at the board itself if something shorted any damage around the connector. Some people say a hard restart might work. I've had issues that were solved by unscrewing the logic board at the bottom and middle and lifting it slightly to break connection with the battery. Then reassemble and see if it worked. If non of this worked you may want to look at a new logic board.

Im pretty sure it is the LCD chipset that is damaged. On the back of the board, it lies under one of the rectangular shields that is on the edge of the board. See if there is corrosion in there.

This worked
iPhone 3GS opened it up to replace the camera and got a white screen on startup, followed the below and it started up well
