I Think the most complicated part is the recorder, may be make some kind of library with the records could be usefull ?.

Hello! I have already made the sound-->IR converter. Unfortunately i havent been able to try it out since I don't know how to make the sounds myself. I dont have an apple so the apple test is useless to me. If someone knows how to make sounds. Would a learner app be possible using an infrared receiver (usb) ?.

I am unable to make the recorder shown in the first post since the components are not readily available to me here. Any alternatives would be great. Sucks I have such an old TV that I can find no IR codes for.

To XianLi - I had PMed you a couple of days ago and you sent me a link with a program that generates sounds on a pocket pc when given pronto codes.
I have modified this very program to run on a PC. It's interface is simple, its simply got a text box and when you paste a pronto code it makes the sound. It also saves the sound in a temp folder which you can take and rename as .wav which can be uploaded onto the iphone using iTunes. If anyone's interested...

Unfortunately I havent been able to test it on anything since I cant find any pronto codes for any of my equipment...

    Enjoy!

    Hi SeBsZ,

You can post a link to download the binary and the source here.

I can give a try to your app and let you know if it works.
If it does, we can try to make an iPhone version, this will avoid us to build the IR to Sound converter.

That would be just great !

I'd like to mention that this program is not the Copyrighted Total Remote from Griffin, but an individual codeproject called PocketBeamer.

Just voicing interest that i would pay for one of these to be made and sent to me once it gets to the fully autonomous second version.

I am definitely giving this a whirl. I ordered the parts for the recorder (IR to sound) yesterday. Will probably be in Europe in about a week or a little longer...

I can't wait to write an app that will create a database that will grow and grow once everyone learns all their remotes and adds them to the program. What do you think about this XianLi? I know you want to turn your app into reading prontoCodes for the next or so version, but believe me. If you have a remote that is strange (an unknown model) and you want to know the pronto code for its power button, youll have a hard time.

I say we should create a large database of our "sound snippets". Although I'm writing a windows version for the database frontend, I see no reason why in the near future your iPhone app could search for snippets in the database and download them directly without any computer required!

Looking forward to hearing from you all

Are you some guy of wise guy ? You just read in my mind

The pronto thingy is more about a feature, though the software will be able to use different techniques to transmit IR code through the Audio to IR jack.

I'm waiting for my shipped order (components) and will start to work on the v2.
