I can't turn my iphone off (Keeps restarting).
Hi my iphone won't turn off, it just keeps on restarting. It's a 2G 1.1.2 currently at 2.1 (winpwned). Should I try restoring it? Is it ok to do it through itunes? Any help would be much appreciated.

Try DFU restore to 2.2 through iTunes, then use QuickPwn and you're done. Great tutorials at iClarified.

I tried that but no joy
it was restored and updated using quickpwn, but my iphone still won't shut down, it also randomly turns itself on from sleep mode. I did get a bit of water on it (wasn't much) so it may be hardware damage. Anymore suggestions would be much appreciated.

Sorry about that. Given the new info, it looks like a hardware issue to me. I'm moving this thread to that section. Hepefully, you'll get some help there.

I just did a repair on a phone with power switch issues much like you described a few days ago. It's not that hard. The hardest part to most repairs with 2G iPhones is getting the phone open to begin with. If you're handy with electronics, give it a try. You'll need to replace this part:

Once I replaced that part, the phone worked perfectly again.
Good luck if you decide to give it a go

Can you clarify which part you replaced? I am having the same problem and need to fix it.

Hi there hope that my answer can help someone, well my girlfriend had the same problem, the iphone 2g just fell into some water and the iphone started turn on in a random time, so i decided to open it, i checked the proof water and was white everything seems to be fine so i tried to splash some liquid (QD Electronic Cleaner) into the dock conector thats make a quick drying, and thats helped the dry the water that was still around there.
And after few seconds the starts working perfectly like always.
Sorry for my english but hope that someone could benefit of this.
Best regards
