Fails, turns off, using battery when in standby (have logs)
Hello everyone,
First of all thanks for the forum, and the oportunity to try to solve the issue with this iPhone (3G).
Unfortunately I am an unlucky owner of one of the iphones that got in contact with water "by apple".
So the problem of this iphone is that it turns off when in standby.
I enabled logging of syslogd to try to identify why this happens.
Analyzing the logs I get the following:
May 26 14:49:13 tino-3g configd[15]: WiFi: Display off. Adjusting scan intervals for dim screen.
May 26 14:49:13 tino-3g configd[15]:
May 26 14:49:13 tino-3g configd[15]: WiFi: Arming timer for disassociation in 30.000000 minutes
May 26 14:49:30 tino-3g CommCenter[248]: Telling PDP context 0 to go inactive.
May 26 14:49:30 tino-3g CommCenter[248]: Telling PDP context 1 to go inactive.
May 26 14:49:34 tino-3g CommCenter[248]: Telling CSI to go low power.
May 26 14:49:34 tino-3g CommCenter[248]: CSI can enter low power, so now telling to do so.
May 26 14:49:34 tino-3g CommCenter[248]: Will sleep. Heard from CSI in 0.00728998 seconds
By just looking at the log I believe the problem is when the phone is set for low power. I also checked the logs for when the phone is connected to power supply (doesn't turn off) and in this case ...
May 26 15:22:42 tino-3g configd[15]: WiFi: Display off. Adjusting scan intervals for dim screen.
May 26 15:22:42 tino-3g configd[15]:
May 26 15:22:42 tino-3g configd[15]: WiFi: Disassociation timer disabled because we are connected to a power source
Since I am no expert with iphone software / hardware architecture I have no clue what might be the problem.
Can someone please advice me what can I do to give it a go ... either helping me identify the hardware problem, or helping to solve this problem by changing software not to low power the phone. ;-)
Please give me some comments and advice what should I check.
Thanks a lot

Same Here
I am in the same boat my friend. It fell in water about 3 weeks ago, after which I put in rice and prayed. After 2 days it was 100% functional as far as I could tell, then later found that my volume up button wouldn't work(no biggie).
Just yesterday I started having the same problem with it powering off in standby just after it crashed when I tried opening the camera application. I have not opened the camera app since it fell in water and it crahes every time i try now. Anyway took it to apple who showed me that the water sensors were tripped and that I would have to pay $200.
I decided to take it apart instead after reading some forums about residue being left after the water has dried. I cleaned a few spots and found some charred areas. I scraped away some of the char marks to find that the metal was still intact so I thought it would be fine. I put everything back together and am still having the issue and the camera still crashes the device.
Hope my story helps diagnose the problem. Please share any progress. Thanks

I have news regarding this issue.
In fact I was able to keep using the phone by jailbreaking and install Insomnia, which prevents phone from running in low power.
I used it for a week now but, as expected when using Insomnia, battery wouldn't old much, but still, good enough for my daily usage.
Today by mistake, I have left iphone without Insomnia and when I waked it, it actually did work. I immediately though that the application was running in background and decided to restore the iphone, to be sure there was no Insomnia app.
From nothing, it stopped turning off when in standby.
I would recommend you to do the same, it might happen that you get as lucky as I did. ;-)
Good luck

It seem to be working fine for a 1 hour but unfortunately it is again in damaged state.
