Do I have to get to the point of opening my phone in order to get it fixed? Isn’t that crazy!!! is the problem a faulty phone earpiece/speaker or a software glitch? I know there was a way to increase volume on FW 1.0.2, can that be done on 1.1.2 as well? I'm willing to test any hack before trying to open this thing, damm it!!!

take it from a friend, never try to open this black shiny thing. keep trying all the software means. when you decide to throw your bucks away then and only then open it.

Will keep you posted, I'm still under warranty but, how can I claim a repair without being an ATT customer? on the meantime I'm researching online to find out how to hack the apple.celestial.plist and systemsoundmaximunvolume.plist to increase the earpiece volume without affecting any other defaults, same thing was done for 1.0.2 users before 1.1.1 came out and supposedly increased the volume, I'll let you know how it goes.

I had the same problem just earlier....
i fixed it by poking at the earpiece and moving the earpiece screen with a needle till it stated working

Can you be more specific about what you did? I'll try this but I'm afraid to screw the earpiece and it might not work again :p

Use a pin or needle to move the screen covering the earpiece. Tried moving it up and down. I was so frustrated, I poked it a couple times and suddenly volume went back to normal.

Hey guys,
I'm having the same problem as you. The earpiece volume is very very low I cannot hear anything. but all the remaining volume are ok (not loud but fine).
I tried some software solution by replacing files on the iphone but nothing is working I have now the version 1.1.4.
Can you please explain to me what you did to solve the problem?
thank you

I tried every single software hack to improve the volume levels and nothing worked, after a few restores and with no hope, another member shared this fix:
"Use a pin or needle to move the screen covering the earpiece. Tried moving it up and down. I was so frustrated, I poked it a couple times and suddenly volume went back to normal"
It woked like a charm!!! givi it a try, mine came back to normal, however I still think my volume is lower than other newer iphones, try it and good luck!!!
