    Default Deliberatly broke your iphone?

Anyone here deliberately broke your iphone to return it for a new one? Mine got screwed up trying to unlock it and I figure if i drop it in some water or disconnect the battery it won't power up so they won't know shit and they'll give me a new iphone.

    Thoughts/suggestions?

how are you going to break yours? I was thinking either dunk it in water and dry it hoping it'll short or trying to open it up and disconnect the battery.

Be careful putting it in water, Apple have a cute little thing in there to make sure of this, see this link

I read somewhere throw it in the microwave for a 20 seconds and then the fridge for 10 minutes, but it's not my recommendation

First of all, do not even think of dunking it in water. That's just retarded. You do realize there is a water sensor in there, don't you?

    This is what you do:

Connect to iTunes and initiate a restore. When it says that it's restoring the iPhone's firmware and the progress bar is like 5% across, disconnect the phone. It shouldn't boot up. If you're lucky, you can get it to where it won't even turn on at all and the screen stays blank no matter what. That would be the best case scenario.

    Another thing you can do:
Take your USB cable, cut, strip the wires, and hook up the power lines to some higher voltage, like maybe 12 VDC, maybe higher. Hell, you could even use a printer AC adapter, i've seen those go up to 30 VDC. I would not suggest going any higher than that, as you're getting into dangerous territory. Be careful, this is electricity we're talking about. For extra credit points, pop out the sim tray and shove some charged wires in there. Once you've had your fun zapping all the chips, march on down to your apple store and play dumb.

oh awesome! That's a much better idea. Trying to open the iPhone was rather daunting seeing as how I'd most likely mar the finish and raise obvious questions. I think I'll try the itunes way. I had the water idea from the fact that someone dropped theirs in the toilet and it didn't boot thus giving him a new phone. I'm a bit hesitant of the microwave one seeing as how all thin parts of metal will basically burn off so the screen might show some damage.

    but JUST to confirm
I have a 14 day warranty from date of purchase from apple correct? I don't want to do this then think "oh shit" i was wrong.,

So i just connected some excess 14 gauge wire from my printer cable, not sure waht voltage, to the base of my iPhone and it sparked and it's now stuck on the insert iphone into itunes screen and can't be recognized by the computer. I'll try frying it later and the sim chip place too
