Default Can I use my iPod CarDock FM with my iPhone?

    Hi

I have a car dock with a built in FM transmitter that I have been using with my iPod video. The iPhone fits perfectly in it but it when I plug it in, it says that the device it not designed for the iPhone. My phone also get very hot when charging.

Do you think there is likely to be a problem using it? Is the voltage and current in for an iPod video the same as an iPhone?

    Thanks

I did the same with my iphone, I ignored the "Not for Ihone" sign it did transmit the music to my radio, but it got hot so I decided to take it out. I then went to an apple store and some employees told me I could have killed it and I thought they were going to try and sell me the iphone version of car fm transmitter, but instead they told me they will not produce an iphone version since it would interfere with the cell signal, so I took their advice and never hooked it up again. I would advise not to use it, I was warned by apple employees, seems reasonable they should know what they are talking about. hope this helps!

I use mine all the time... I just press no when it asks if I want AirPlane mode. I don't think those Apple Store employees know what they are talking about. It works fine except there is occasional interference from the phone.

And they are making iPhone ones. I know of the "BTCup" for the iPhone that is supposed to be released soon.

I'm hoping it will eliminate the cell interference.

    Which make are you using...

I tried a Griffin ITRIP Auto (it says it work work on 3g,4g and 5g on the box).

I get charging but the music still comes out through the iphone speaker and does not get broadcast on the selected frequency.

I use a really old DLO Transpod that was out before there was even such a thing as 4g and 5g ipods... They all use the same connections including the iPhone.

I know that you have to have a FM transmitter that allows you to select the frequency on the device and not the iPod/iPhone. I'm not familure with the ITRIP Auto.

I burned my iphone with 12Volts ipod charger. The regular iphone charger is 5Volts!!! Iphone didn't advise me about this incompatibility. I use to charge it with the ipod charger for many weeks but one night, the battery was too weak, the iphone comes too hot and plufth!!!

yes..this dock works fine for me. Except that Phone signal interferes with the FM signals...Switching to Airplane mode fixes this interference problem too....

so it works like a treat....and charges the iphone battery too..

yeah it work ..... for now

but still , its not design for iphone. iphone home charger produce 5v dc 1Amp output.
Most of the car charger is 5v to 5.5v with 500ma to 2Amp.
that is one of the reason why your iphone gets hot when you connect it. Then later on you'll fin out, you burned and fried out your battery. Goodluck on using on it , it 's not my money and i didn't recommend this.

    that's all folks !!
