its been 2 weeks now and still no sound, the other day all the sounds came back for 5 hours this is with 2 bars only of volume and I selected low volume tones for my calls and sms. And so everything was back except when I called someone and my carrier showed the call charge which gives my phone a vibrating alert. After that sounds were gone again....

    Hi,

My iPhone also encounter something similar.

Mine is after pwnage for a whiile then out of the blue totally no sound (ringtone, slide to unlock, power key to lock, ipod, utube) from the speaker. If i plug in the headphone, it is working perfectly.
Encountered twice earlier which "reset" does help but not this round.

Tried downgrade, upgrade, baseband change, bootloader change......still no sound...
Until just now, did manage to get sound again for a short while.

    Current setup iLiberty+ to 3.9FL -> iClarified's bootneuter to 4.6 "neuter & unlock bb".

Things i did and i have sound for a while.
    1) Power on
    2) Bootneuter
    3) wait for bootneuter to finish determine my setting
    4) press home to exit bootneuter
    5) wait for carrier to be back on
    6) go to settings->sound->slide the volume to max......heard the ring tune.
    7) press home and exit
    8) call from another phone, iphone will ring (finally)

But here is the catch, another call and no sound again.
Power off and on again ..... no sound after that but if i repeat step 1-8 there is sound

Can someone help to debug and patch?

    Latest....did these

    Yahoo:~ root# launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
    Yahoo:~ root# launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
    Yahoo:~ root#
and i have the sound and ringtone at the speaker for a while....and gone again...

Guess this bug is related to the CommCenter

this is weird! but I think your's is fixable. Once I had the sound back when I charged my phone to full capacity, everything worked even music, But when my phone vibrates either by a call or email, the sound goes away! And till now I never heard my phone again.. THis is a very ugly downside for iphone! At least we should get decent speakers for a phone and probably the best mp3 player around! Having the iphone installed with speakers that can not play loud sounds and easily break is really one of the things Im curious about apple. Now Im convinced my case is not unique. This by far is the most flawed hardware component of the iphone.

Sounds like a loose connection to the speaker to me

Angry speaker is ok, mic ok, ear-speaked dead

What about ear-speaker? mine is dead. nothing on ear-speaker after i answer or give calls.
It started with a broken sound like it was too big volume and then it died for good.

Guess that i have to replace it some how. ((

    BR,
    Chris

i've got the same issue, if resetting all settings don't work, try insert many times the headphone jack.

I had the same problem today. The only difference was, that when i tried to call somebody and touched the speakerbutton on the screen, the speaker was working. But only then! All other speakerfunktions were dead. My solution was to blew into the Earphonejack! All sounds are back!

I had a combination problem same as cleemo, invictus & dgodfather2k5...tried all methods suggested on this thread. And still couldn't get it fixed.

So I backed-up, re-virginized, re-flashed and made sure my baseband version matched my firmware...

    Voila...fixed!

NOTE: I tried the above solution on iTunes 7.6 and didn't work. Reverted to 7.5 and worked.
