Does anyone know how to solve this problem. If the battery is totally disconnected from the iphone and then the iphone is connected to the power cable it does the same problem.
Thank your and waiting for your help.
If the phone powers up (even if temporary) without the battery, may be a good sign that the communications and logic boards are okay...Just reconnect the white wire and you should be good to go unless the battery is drained or kaput.

Thanks rvlyssup, the three cables of the battery are connect to the iphone and when the power button is press the screen turns to a solid black (for a second) and nothing more, the apple logo dosenīt show.
I tried to get the iphone working only using the power from de pc (disconnecting all the 3 cables of the battery from the iphone) and it does the same thing.
Before the white cable get disconnect from the iphone (at that moment the iphone was working not so well), sometimes the iphone freezes when the slide to unlock appears and some other times when you were using it. The solution for that was openning it a pressing on the upper left of the commboard, near the camera.
Do you think that a red or white jumper will solve this issue?, the red jumper appears to be not so complicated but the white one yes.
    Thank you!!

No Problem...re-solder the white wire, if the pad is gone, see the previous posts for the jumper fix. Make sure none of the 3 wires are touching each other or are grounded. (if the black is grounded, should be fine but avoid that situation entirely of course) Check the connector(s) on that side of the communications / logic board combo, one or both of them may be loose. There is a total of 3 (Digitizer / lcd) and a 4th one (slide connector) which is for the home buttons, speaker etc. I use a piece of plastic strip from an old credit card (cut about a quarter of an inch across *long side*) which is thick enough to place between the back of the connector and the LCD backing. Press on the top of the com board (but not too hard) and you should feel it connect. Unless you got tiny hands, it really hard to get the digits in there. Put everything back together but don't close the cover yet. Plug in the unit to the wall charger and lets hope that the Apple logo shows and it starts to charge the phone. Good Luck to you, hope you get her runnin!!

It appears that the white wire is not making connection to the iphone, I disconnected it and only the red and black wires are connect and the problem is exact the same.
I gonna re-solder the white wire and hope that the pad its still there. In the case the pad is gone then I have to solder a wire from the white wire to the 6th connector up right? Its that possible?

    rvlyssup,
I re-solder the white wire and check all the 4 connectors. The problem persists.
So I remove and disconnected the battery from the phone. Then connect it to the pc and the iphone starts blinking on black and stays that way until I disconneted from the pc.
Now that the battery is is not connected its necessary to make the white wire jumper? Its seems very dificult to do.
I dont know what else I can do, it seems that white jumper is our last option.
Waiting to hear from you, thank you so much.

Sounds like the pad is gone...I looked at the actual board on mine when I had thought earlier may have been the culprit and it did not look easy. I took a gamble and bought the logic board instead and my phone fired right up. My communication board was fine after all. Power IC on the logic board fried on mine...I don't think you have the same problem cuz mine was dead and when I attached a new battery and plugged the phone to the wall, my phone started to heat up. Did not blink, no light, Apple logo or nothing...

The only thing I could do is to take the iphone to DFU mode, then Itunes shows that the phone must be recovered, I tried to recover it in 1.0 to 1.1.3 and all of then shows me error 1601.
The phone start the recovery procedure, extracting software and the the part when says preparing iphone and when it reboot the iphone the screen begins flashing on black and about 2min later the error 1601 appears.
It seems like the botloader of someting else is not working.
Does Anyone know a solution for this? Thanks!

Hey Zaphalo, I have about the same problem...

Here is the story with as much details as possible:
I woke up one morning, tried to turn the iphone On and got the empty battery sign telling me to connect to a power source...
I went to my kitchen to get the morning coffe and docked my iphone to the bose sound station. After 15min the only thing that was good was the coffe . The iphone was almost burning and still showing up the low battery sign (the one in red taking the full screen of the phone). That's when it started to become really bad. I removed the phone from the sound station, tried to boot up, the screen was flickering. I rebooted, everything was fine... but still no battery...
I decided to dock it again to the sound station so that I could enjoy some music for breakfast! I got an error message on the iphone (the popup like the one telling you to enter your pin code to unlock the sim for example) saying there is a problem with my phone and I should contact apple... End of the story. That was the last time the phone talked to me. Now I can't turn it on, can't charge it, black screen all the way, can't really restore and I have about the same message than yours: unknown error (1601) or unknown error (1602).
In my luck I also had an unknown error (2005) -> nobody ever got this error I believe since I've been searching on google for hours.

Now, here I am. No more phone so no music and cold coffe

I guess I would buy another logic board but I'm still reading to make sure this is going to resolve the issue.

Anyway, if you guys think that I should, then I'll try and post the results.

    Cheers,

and good luck to all of you with dead iphone(s)

    1. So did the jumper work?
    2. When you place the phone in recovery mode, what shows on the screen?
    3. Is it still on firmware 1.0.1 or 1.1.3 and does it go on revovery mode after (recovery on iTunes) the error code?

It is a known issue that sound docks or aftermarket charging unit not made specifically for the iPhone are causing problems. Basically, it fries the power IC on the logic board itself. Symptoms are not charging, getting hot, and eventually a dead iPhone. Try leaving it off for a few hours to a full day and plug it in using the OEM wall charger. Hopefully, it will not get hot and go back to normal.

That is why DO NOT use docks or non-OEM chargers not specific to the iPhone on your iPhones.
