Default [Advice] iphone overheated using ipod charger, battery dead?

Phone was working fine up until yesterday when I tried to charge the phone using an ipod charger as I couldn't find my iphone charger. When I plugged it in, the charging image came on and I left it for about 15-20min, which is when I noticed the screen looked white and warped and the phone was too hot to touch. I unplugged it immediately and let the phone cool.

Once the phone cooled, it turned on fine and function normally (calls, etc.) but the battery was at 10%. I found the iphone charger, when I plugged that in the phone would lose wifi and cell and would not charge. Same would occur if I tried to plug in using the USB cord. The battery is now completely drained and the phone will not turn on.

Does this just sound like a battery issue? Or should the phone turn on when plugged in even if the battery is dead?

    Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like a logic board issue to me. May be fried. Big bucks to repair too (unless you are under warranty and with AT&T). Exact same thing happened to me. I feel your pain. Bummer.

If I manage to get the phone in to Apple, will they put in a new logic board or just send a replacement?

Since I can't even restore the phone, I'm wondering whether Apple will be able to tell the phone has been jailbroken.
