Default [Accessories] iPod adapter connected to JVC Head unit > can't control iPhone ?

My brother just bought an iPod adapter for his JVC headunit. It plugs into the back of the headunit and then the iPod/iPhone plugs in via the charge port on the bottom.

Well, it doesn't work for the iPhone. The iPhone recognizes that there is an "iPod accessory attached" but the headunit doesn't find the media, so nothing plays.

We tried the adapter on my girlfriends new iPod Nano... And it works perfectly fine with that.

So I wanted to see if anyone had a suggestion for how to get this to work with the iPhone? I thought that MAYBE it had something to do with the file location of the songs on the iPhone vs the iPods... Is this something that can be fixed with a hacked iPhone?

Simon, this thread belongs to the Hardware section and its title is not in conformity. Please read my signature about this, thanks.

Also you can search in the Hardware section if someone has the same issue or has successfully used the very same accessory.

There is a sticky thread for the unofficial compatible 3rd party accessories.

    (thread renamed and moved)

Xian - I had thought it may be a hardware related post... But when I read the title of hardware, I thought that was more towards the hardware within the iPhone itself. Thanks for moving and renaming. Hopefully someone can assist.

Noone? I'm thinking that if we setup a virtual link to where the iPod files are supposed to me and where they are stored on the iPod, that maybe this product will work?

But I can't find any definite answer for where the iPod files are stored.

The files for the iPhone (1.1.4) are at /var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/Music

    Anyone?

All the iPods including the touch and the iPhone are using a proprietary protocol to communicate with 3rd party devices using the Dock connector.

This protocol is handled by a chip inside the 3rd party device and inside the iPod.

The software on the iTouch and iPhone behind this is a Framework called IAP.framework and its iapd (daemon) running in the background.

Until Apple decides to add support for your JVC device in the framework, nothing can let you use it.

For more details you can read this thread (start from post #70):

    ******* SOLVED ***********

100% working patch method. Just plug in your iphone, itouch, ipod and you can control you music with iphone or headunit at the same time! Works on any OS version, any headunit (so far).

    **Here it is:
