I've been using a hacked iPhone in Sweden. A couple of days back I realised the accelerometer has stopped functioning. Which means that when I rotate the phone the photos/websites/coverflow album art don't rotate. This morning the 'rotating feature' came back on its own for a couple of hours. And it has disappeared once again. Obviously I can't approach Apple for help. Anybody else having a problem like this? Any solution/remedy will be greatly appreciated. Cheers, A

The Accelerometer can´t fix, is not a soft or program. Sorry. Only hardware solution...

Mine stopped rotating after installing some earlier release games which is a strange co-instance. I'm curious to know if you install "sensors" does to arrow point the correct way when you rotate phone?

actually found that my z axis is stuck on 49%. x and y ok, so games still work, just not photos albums ect

I think sensor works mechanically inside and it may come back again after a while. Something must have stucked inside sensor.

Well i'm no expert, but i dont think anything can get stuck in the sensor. I think it is all integrated in a chip, like my modern gyro for my model helicopter. No visible moving parts. It is some kind of crystal in a chip that put out negative or positive values depending on which way it moves. Of course they can be broken, but dont think they can get stuck by some outer object.

Search for piezoelectric gyroscope on google. But i'm just guessing that it is something like this in the phone.

If this is a hardware problem how come all of the third party apps that use the Accelerometer work perfectly and only pod, safari and photo's don't rotate???

I thought this also, but you need all 3 axis ok for ipod cover flow, safari and photo's. Games obviousy don't

The same just happened to me.. but didn't figure out the reason yet. I also installed lots of third party apps and games when I unlocked my iPhone, until the rotating function just stopped working. Though I believe the reason has to be that I accidentally dropped the phone from about half a foot (15cm). Check if that happened to you also. If that is the case, I'm positive that it would have to be a hardware issue, and can't be fixed by Apple, since we unlocked the phones. too bad... I think I'll sell it... Any1 in Argentina that wants to buy it? LOL...
