Default [3G] Screen problem after a fall

The iPhone 3G fell pretty strong, hitting the ground. Then the screen got really bad:

However, touch screen and other functionality still works. (I've checked it "blindly")
I'd opened the device, and noticed that all display cables (1-3) are good. I've removed them and connected them again, same problem.

    What should I do?
I guess it's a LCD problem, buying a new LCD from eBay (50GBP) will solve the problem? Is it the best option?

    Thanks!

You say you checked the touch screen blindly. Elaborate on exactly what you did and which functions were working.

Your problem is most likely the LCD, but there is also a small chance that it is in the logic board. If absolutely everything else with the phone is working (3G, wifi, bluetooth, gps, media playback) than replacing the LCD will almost definitely solve the problem. If, for example, you can't make or recieve calls, then you'll need to replace the logic board (and possibly the LCD too, but not definitely).

If there's any way that you could install veency, that would make the tests very doable. Otherwise, all you'd really be able to test is phone calls, wifi (check your router's status page for your iphone), maybe bluetooth if you have a headset.

I've already installed Veency (forgot to mention that), using SSH (WiFi does work). I can make/recieve calls and send/recieve SMS. Media playback works, I'll check GPS later. I don't have any BT headset so I can't check BT (maybe I'll borrow one)
I'm almost sure the problem is the LCD. After I'll validate it using GPS and BT, I'll buy a replacement. There are some sellers on eBay which claim that they sell an original LCD screen for about 80$-90$. Does it make sense?

    Thanks again

Yes, definitely. Even before you answered, I was 99.9% sure that it was the LCD, but why leave anything to chance if you just need to do a few simple tests to rule out a more bizarre problem? Good thing it's only the LCD, everything else is pretty expensive to replace.

Good luck, let us know how it turns out .

Thanks, I hope it'll be genuine, as they claim, or at least same as Apple's quality. I'll order one soon, and post updates in this thread.

Update. Just got the screen from easyworldwidetrading @ eBay. Installed it, works perfect!
It is almost as good as original, after comparing to an original iPhone 3G - it has very slight backlight leaking at the top and colors differ than original. But at 80 bucks, I can't complain! Before comparing it to the original, I couldn't notice the changes. So I'm really happy now

    Thanks
