16GB Harddrive?
I don't know much about the new iPod Touch Harddrives or the iPhone harddrives other than the fact that they're flash-based... so would it be possible to replace the iPhone hd with the new iPod Touch 16GB?

Well the flash memory is soldered to the board if i remember correctly. So you sure could try to take off the 8GB and put on a 16GB, but the likelihood you will succeed is not very good.

I have a feeling that the 16GB iPhone isn't far away. Makes sense considering the launch of the 16GB iPod touch and the recent $200 price drop on the 8GB iPhone

There is an iPhone on ebay with a 16 GB HD. I think the seller is trying to sell it for $2000. It shouldn't be hard to upgrade the HD yourself.

Also makes sense since they have dropped the 4GB option. The 16GB iphone is certainly on the horizon!

On the flip side, the Touch is smaller with a larger flash (16G). It's possible they removed parts to fit the extra flash in (like the cellular modem) and won't be able to add that much flash to the 8G iPhone easily.

I don't think they used 16GB (or added 8Gb) from iPod Touch. They just put another chip from Flash-Memory Supplier. It's not a big deal to replace it if you are in this (electronics) field. Show me the memory chip for sale and it's a piece of cake to replace it, at least for me.
