[1.1.2 (1.0.2 OTB)] Can't disable GPRS, no matter what I do
Hey there, I have a 1.1.2 unlocked (from 1.02 original) iPhone and am using it on the New Zealand vodafone network (EDGE is not support, though GPRS is).
Whenever I connect to wireless and try and go online, it seems the phone prefers GPRS over the wireless connection, and ends up draining all of the cash from my prepaid account (internet on phones is very expensive here).
I have data roaming set to off - still happens.
I have put in fake EDGE settings - still happens.
I have installed services app and disabled EDGE - still happens.
It seems none of the current solutions kill the GPRS. What's worse is that when I run out of cash in my phone account, it continues to try to use GPRS rather than the wireless, and so nothing loads. I've only had this problem recently as I returned to New Zealand, in other countries it was fine.
Any ideas? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
This wont be of any use to you if you do actually use GPRS now and then.....
But you could try to go to the GPRS configuration part (Settigns > General > Network > EDGE), and remove or rename part of the APN?
I dont have GPRS in HK, because its just too much on 2.5G network, so I dont even know what the APN would look like. Just a stab in the dark....
