Default Poor battery life after jailbreak with greenpois0n RC6 iPhone 4 legit activation

i just jailbroke my iphone 4 with greenpoison rc 6.. does anyone else face a drop in battery life like im doing after jailbreaking ? my iphone 4 batt life lasted 2 days atleast comfortably with light usage up until yesterday.. and today thats down to half..
is there anything that i have done wrong? (my iphone 4 is on 4.2.1 and factory unlocked and did not need any activation.. i jailbroke with greenpoison rc 6 on top of that)

i dint do a restore of any kind.. is that whats needed?

is this a problem with greenpoison only? or other jailbreak softwares too?

is the dev team going to release pwnage for 4.2.1 anytime soon or should i wait for green poison rc 7?

    thanks

Battery life problems are most often hacktivation/push notification mis-configuration.
As you don't have hacktivation, it's very unlikely that this is the problem.

Greenpois0n (like redsn0w and limera1n) is designed to jailbreak the OS that is currently running/installed on your phone. For these type of jailbreaks we always recommend you "restore, if possible activate via iTunes, then jailbreak" to get the best reliability. Also try to "set up iPhone as new" rather than restore from iTunes backup.

Even if you have activated legitimately, but have restored from iTunes backup which had been made of a hacktivated phone (or even a different model iPhone) - then this could cause battery life problems.

That is general advice though... nothing specific to greenpois0n.

Some appstore apps (like Skype) can really impact your battery life, as they are allowed to actively run in the background waiting for a phone call. This is quite different to the normal "fast app switching" where apps are still in memory but frozen (ie not using CPU) when they aren't active.

There are very few apps or tweaks from the Cydia store that dramatically impact battery life. Most of the tweaks use zero CPU when they are not actually being used.

There is a deal between Chronic Dev Team and the iPhone Dev Team, once the source code to the untether exploit used by the latest greenpois0n is open sourced (expected to occur any day now), then the iPhone Dev Team is allowed to release updated versions of redsn0w and pwnagetool that use this new untether exploit.

The iPhone Dev Team have redsn0w ready to go with this new exploit and are just waiting for permission from pod2g (the guy who found the untether exploit) to release it. I would guess that they also have an updated version of pwnagetool nearly ready (there is a little more work required for pwnagetool)

thanks a lot for the reply..

if all the softwares (greenpoison, redsnow, pwnage) are going to be based on the same code or exploit.. is there still going to be any difference in reliability? (in terms of battery issues or something else)
do u recommend one software method over another for better results?

also, i had read that the dev team will release the latest unlock along with the release of 4.3 firmware.. is this true?

    thanks

This is rapidly getting off topic... The topic is greenpois0n and problems running it on 10.5.
Will move your questions to a separate thread.

Yes all the tools will use the same exploits (limera1n to jailbreak plus Feedface to untether). There may be subtle differences in features offered by the jailbreak tools (eg hacktivation, ability to customise boot logo etc) but the actual untether exploit and especially the kernel/sandbox patches should be the same.

For the benefit of tweak developers (and the users who install tweaks from Cydia) it is best to keep the actual kernel/sandbox patches as identical as possible. Otherwise it becomes difficult to guarantee that these tweaks are stable and work reliably on all jailbreaks.

What the iPhone dev team said regarding unlock for the iPhone 4 is that they wouldn't announce anything more until iOS 4.3 was released. The rumour is that the release of 4.3 is supposed to be today (14th feb).

i setup my phone as a new phone and ive been using it without jailbreaking all this while (since its factory unlocked and the jb was tethered) on 4.2.1.. and my battery life was excellent.. a comfortable 2 days with moderate usage..
i am extremely careful to end all tasks.. nothing running in background.. i end every task immediately and then press sleep button.. also location services, bluetooth, wifi, push notification /fetch in mail off.. and brightness is set to 1/3rd and auto..

but after greenpoison rc 6 (my phone is legit activation).. its become less than a day.. even after taking all precautions of not letting anything run in the background..
what i noticed was.. that on sleep mode.. it dint lose even 1% after 4-5 hours.. but as soon as i started using an application (especially thats uses the internet.. like safari or whatsapp) it started dropping fast.. not so much with phone n sms but.. n when i used to surf/whatsapp b4 jb with greenpoison it still i got 2 days out of battery..
so i dunno what to do now..

I as well seem to have the same issue as poster above. I'm on a iPhone 4 not unlocked or hacktivated. Set up as new phone and activated officially. Jailbroken with greenpois0n RC6. And it seems that using my phone just kills the battery super fast. Things like safari and what'sapp I use the most. As I typed this I lost 4 % of my battery life which I didn't seem to experience battery drainage this fast with redsn0w tethered or not jailbroken. In standby it seems to be fine and barely lose any battery overnight but soon as I touch the phone the battery drops way too fast.
Do you guys think that i should try and re jailbreak?

Do you guys have the ability to restore with custom IPSW from PwnageTool 4.2 and set up iPhone as new - see if you still have the same problem?
