my jailbroken iphone w/ greenpois0n won't start up or get recognized..
So... my iphone was jailbroken using greenpoison, and it's been fine for the past couple months, I got this one app that turns my iphone into a USB drive to carry documents and whatnot, and it would not get recognized anymore as an iphone by my computer, and wouldn't show up in itunes either... so I went into my iphone and restored it to erase all data and settings and what not, and while it was in that process it tried to start up again, and the apple logo came on, then green poison's logo came on but it is stuck on greenpoison's logo with the little circle loading bar under it frozen too... nothing is working it is not recognized or anything... can somebody PLEASE help me with this..

Did you restore? Or did you "erase all content and settings"? This is a big distinction and could explain very quickly why your phone is bootlooped. If not, let us know what iOS revision you were on before you restored, and what iOS revision you restored to, we should be able to help from there.

I have an iPhone 4, with IOS 4.2.6, jailbroken with Greenpoison, that I was trying to restore to original 4.2.6, wiping out all of my info, as I've sold the phone. I DID use the "erase all content and settings" on the phone, instead of hooking up first to itunes (figured that out later...), and now I have a phone that appears to be sitting between the apple logo and the greenpoison logo at startup, but I don't actually get anywhere, and the phone is not recognized by itunes. What is my next move???
Thanks for quick assistance!!!

If you have any SHSH on file for iOS 4.x, you'll be able to restore to that using TinyUmbrella. Without those, however, your best bet will be to kick the phone into DFU mode (either with iReb or the home/power for 10 seconds button combination), and restore 5.0.1 to the device. If you can do 4.x that is preferred because it is still capable of being jailbroken, and the jailbreak is untethered. iOS 5.0.1 on the other hand only has a semi-tether, which means that some of the phone works without a tethered boot but none of the jailbreak software does.
Erase all content and settings pretty much does what you described -- that's what it is intended to do. It wipes the entire data structure from the device, leaving only the basic framework to restore a new iOS on top of it, but not leaving an actual iOS revision on the device. If you can't restore in DFU mode or the phone isn't detected when you plug in and get it into DFU mode, let us know and we can go from there.

In Tiny Umbrella I have several saved SHSH's. One of them is the 4.2.6 one, and Tiny Umbrella is still reporting my IOS as 4.2.6.
Here is what is happening:
I'm doing all of this on a Mac running 10.7, by the way. I have to put the phone in DFU mode to get anywhere.
My goal is to simply have a clean version of IOS 4.2.6 for the next owner of the phone to be able to use for whatever they wish.
I have saved on my computer a file named iPhone3,3_4.2.6_8E200_Restore.ipsw. I tried to put the phone in DFU mode, in iTunes, and hit the option key while clicking the restore button in iTunes (the phone may not have been in DFU mode, if showing the phone cord graphic plugging into iTunes on the phone's screen means that it wasn't...). It sensed the phone, saying that it recognized a phone in recovery mode that needed to be restored before it could be used with iTunes, and after I hit the restore button with the option key pressed, it allowed me to point to the above file, and began doing the restore, saying that it was going to install 4.2.6. But, right near the end, after it actually made me think I might actually be just about done, it stopped and said that there had been a problem. So I did the same thing a few times, each time it stopped, but somewhere along the way, it stopped earlier, and then finally it stopped real early in the process and said that the phone wasn't eligible for this build.
Now, I then have been in Tiny Umbrella, where it says that I have the following SHSH's saved:
4.2.6 (8E200)
4.2.9 (8E501)
5.0b1 (9A5220p)
5.0b2 (9A5248d)
5.0b3 (9A5259f)
Now I'm not even sure what SHSH's are or what they do, but I know it is good that I have the 4.2.6 one saved, according to Tiny Umbrella. I also had the boxes for Set Host to Cydia.... and Request SHSH from Cydia checked. Tiny Umbrella told me I would be better off with them unchecked, so I've tried to work with TU both ways.
So I put the phone in DFU mode (blank screen) and Tiny Umbrella recognizes a DFU device is connected. I am told that TU's TSS server is not running, and that I shouldn't try to restore my device, lest there be dire consequences. The "start tss server" button is greyed out, but I can hit "fix recovery", so that is what I do.
TU goes through some motions, tells me that fix recovery has completed, and to let the phone re-boot. On the phone display is the really small writing that starts to flash by when you are jailbreaking your phone, only this text stops about five lines down, saying that it is installing Greenpoison. But there she sits forever...
So, again, I'm simply trying to get a clean copy of 4.2.6 onto the phone. The new owner can jailbreak with whatever they choose to use. I'm wondering if I should LET the phone restore to the 5.1 IOS, and then do an "option + restore" and point it to my " iPhone3,3_4.2.6_8E200_Restore.ipsw " file and see if it will go back to 4.2.6 that way, but I feel like somehow I need to have Tiny Umbrella involved to provide the correct SHSH, what ever that does...
I really want to get this phone on its way to the new owner, as I'm sure they are anxious...
THANK YOU for your help!!!

Ps. Currently, after the phone sits in the state mentioned above, with the small text saying it's installing Greenpoison, it reverts to the screen where the usb cord plug points with an arrow at the iTunes circle and text.
ALSO, in red text in Tiny Umbrella, are the words UPDATE IPHONE 4 BASEBAND. I do not have that box checked either, but that seems new to me from previous dealings with Tiny Umbrella.

Ah, yeah, make sure you use TinyUmbrella to actually download the SHSH files -- you will need it to be running the TSS Server, the "fix recovery" is not something you should be doing to the phone in this state. It probably won't make things worse, but it definitely won't fix things. You need TinyUmbrella to download the copies of the SHSH files you have on file and for it to be able to function as the TSS Server -- if it's greyed out I hate to say I don't really know what to check.
You'll also want to make sure that you have unchecked 'Set hosts to saurik's server on exit' or 'Set hosts to cydia on exit', as that can impact your ability to run the TSS Server. In any case, that is 99.95% the problem -- TinyUmbrella has to be acting as the TSS server or you must have a line in your hosts file that points gs.apple.com to saurik's server for a restore of iOS 4.2.5 to be successful.
The only reports I see of problems with the TSS Server button being greyed out are when TinyUmbrella doesn't see the phone connected. You may want to put the phone into recovery mode and disconnect and reconnect to see if you can get the TSS Server running. Without it, you truly can only go to the latest legit Apple firmware.

So I guess that running TU with the TSS feature functional allows me to download the HSHS file? And how will TU know that I want to use the 4.2.6 file when multiple files are available? And biggest of all, is how in the world am I going to make the TSS server feature work? I can't recall a time it ever did.
Whenever I try to stat Tiny Umbrella, I get a message saying that the TSS service cannot be started, because httpd (PID:98) must be killed. Sometimes its PID 80, sometimes another number, but always the message I get says some PID needs to be killed. I don't have a clue what that is or means.

OK, I found a site that told me to go into activity monitor and kill the httpd file that TU was complaining about. I did this, and the TSS server started doing something, but now seems stuck on accepting connections for a long time. It IS working at some level now, however. So, how long should it take to accept the connections?

It really should be immediate. Are you running any other http servers on this same machine? You'll need to stop them in order for it to work -- TU must bind on port 80 in order to fulfill the request, and any conflicting bindings will impact the process. If you are using web sharing in OS X this can also cause this problem. Make sure any competing http servers (apache2 / etc.) are stopped entirely before attempting this.
Also, to clear up what could be a misconception, the TSS Server functionality of TU does not download your SHSH, it allows TU to act as Apple and replay the applicable, already downloaded SHSH back to iTunes when iTunes asks to verify the firmware. That's why you have to have it functional to do this restore. Without it, iTunes asks Apple, Apple says that they're not signing 4.x anymore, and you get the 3194 error.
